Commercial Opportunity Assessment
Client: A mid-sized pharmaceutical company recently acquired a smaller pharma company whose portfolio included a time-release implant technology.
Objective: Identify and assess drugs and indications for co-development with the implant technology, in the areas of urology, gynecology, oncology, endocrinology, cardiology, and pain management.
Approach: ISA assessed the technical and clinical feasibility of over 130 drug candidates in over 500 conditions via scientific literature review. With a filtered list of 25 potential drugs remaining, ISA then conducted primary research with KOLs to support clinical and commercial assessments. Regulatory and IP experts were consulted to determine commercialization risks and challenges.
Result: ISA identified five opportunities for co-development with the implant technology, considering all relevant development and commercialization factors in prioritization of the lead candidates. A business case was created to defend each opportunity to senior management.
Outcome: The company has decided to pursue development of the top four opportunities identified by ISA. Preclinical testing is currently ongoing.
